Description of the activity
This 6-hour experience combines traditional Arctic wellness with the magical Northern Lights. The evening begins with pickup in Kirkenes and a short 20-minute drive to Pasvikdalen. From there, you make your way to the sauna at Namdalen Wilderness Lodge, either by snowmobile and sled or on snowshoes, depending on your preference.
As the wood-fired sauna heats up to 80°C, guests gather around the fire to grill reindeer sausages and listen to Arctic stories and myths about the aurora borealis. Once the sauna is ready, you can enjoy the warmth before cooling off in the snow – or try an optional ice bath in the frozen lake. The location is far from all light pollution, providing some of the best opportunities to see the northern lights in the region.
