A private evening in a wood-fired sauna on a remote farm with no roads, near Kirkenes. You arrive there by sledge across a frozen lake, grill reindeer sausages by the fire and can watch for the Northern Lights right from the sauna door.

This evening you will spend in a wood-fired sauna in the forest at Namdalen Wilderness Lodge, a remote farm with no neighbors and no roads. The experience is private, just for your group.

We pick you up in Kirkenes and drive about 20 minutes towards Pasvikdalen. From there, a snowmobile pulls you in a sled over a frozen lake to the farm.

While the sauna is heating up, we sit by the fire, grill reindeer sausages and drink something hot. The guide tells us about the area, the wildlife and everyday life in Northern Norway.

The sauna is built in the traditional Norwegian style and is heated with wood. Between rounds you cool down outside in the snow. Finally you wash inside the sauna, as is customary in Norwegian sauna culture.

There is no artificial light around the farm, and nearby is Øvre Pasvik National Park, Norway's first certified Dark Sky Park. On clear nights you can look for the Northern Lights right from the sauna door. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed.
