Experience Øvre Pasvik National Park
At Svanhovd you will find the authorized visitor center for Øvre Pasvik National Park. Through modern and interactive exhibitions you can get to know the unique nature, cultural history and wildlife of Pasvikdalen. The area is known as Norway's densest habitat for brown bears, and the visitor center provides fascinating insights into both the lives of the bears and the research taking place in the region.
From Svanhovd it is a short distance to great hiking trails, birdwatching, fishing and nature experiences all year round. Pasvikdalen is a paradise for anyone who wants to experience the eastern taiga – a forest landscape otherwise associated with Siberia.
Botanical garden with Arctic diversity
Surrounding the conference center is Svanhovd Botanical Garden – one of only three public botanical gardens north of the Arctic Circle. Here you can stroll among an impressive selection of northern plants, shrubs, perennials and crops that thrive in the continental, subarctic climate.
The garden is a peaceful place to enjoy nature, learn more about Arctic flora or just take a break surrounded by flowers and greenery.
