"Kirkenes Puckers" is the town's local ice hockey team, and they have a creative approach to playing the sport they love in ever-changing ways. One day in 2017, one of the players discovered that there was mirror-like ice down in the local mine's open pit. It was too tempting to leave it untouched. But before this secluded ice surface could be put to use, mobilization had to be done. The ice had to be cleared of snow and made ready for games. And there was also a big question that had to be answered. Sydvaranger Gruver was the town's former cornerstone company that had gone bankrupt in 2015.
